Jennifer L. Balderston, MD, FACOG is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, personalized, and evidence-based care for women at every stage of life. She values developing long-term therapeutic relationships with her patients, grounded in trust, communication, and shared decision-making.
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Balderston attended Old Dominion University on full academic scholarships and was selected for early acceptance into Eastern Virginia Medical School through the ODU/EVMS Joint Program in Medicine. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she was recognized for her surgical expertise with the AAGL Award for Excellence in Gynecologic Surgery.
Dr. Balderston specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, including advanced laparoscopic and vaginal procedures. She is one of the first and only providers in the region to offer vNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery), allowing eligible patients to benefit from innovative surgical options with less pain and faster recovery.
She is passionate about providing comprehensive care for women before and after pregnancy, with particular focus on the menopausal transition, hormone therapy, and addressing concerns related to sexual health. As a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, Dr. Balderston has advanced training in individualized menopause management and helps patients navigate complex hormonal and sexual health concerns with compassion and evidence-based care.
Committed to education and global health, Dr. Balderston has participated in multiple international medical mission trips and has received several teaching awards for her dedication to medical education. She continues to actively teach and mentor medical students and residents.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Balderston enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including coaching her young children in soccer.
